Yes, the food is expensive, but we found every Key West restaurant to be pricey and this was comparable for what you get. We LOVED the breakfasts we had there too. The Casa Marina is a clean, gorgeous, wonderful resort. Our VERY comfortable mattress sat atop a metal platform that made - uh - Sleeping - very LOUD.Ahem, I digress. Yes, would have been nice to have the sand beach but you just walk over to the Reach and there it is. YUM!!! I had read some negative reviews of CM before going but there was not one thing about the resort I didn't like. Many good restaurants within 10 min bike ride from Casa Marina - don't miss the amazing Cuban restaurant El Siboney. We discovered that taking William Street from south to north was a relatively low traffic way to get to the Northern side of the island where the aquarium, marina, Mallory Square areas are. We rented bikes for the whole week from the resort and I would HIGHLY recommend this, especially with kids. Do not miss having dinner at the CM restaurant with your "toes in the sand." You are right next to the hammocks and the kids were blissfully running around having fun while we waited for our dinner. We liked their restaurant better for lunch also. Their beach is sand entry (vs the mostly rock entry of the Casa Marina). We spent 3/7 days at the pool/beach at the Reach, the hotel also owned by the Waldorf that is a 5 minute walk away. All staff was very friendly and helpful with good attitudes all around. Our room was clean and swept/mopped at least 2x a day to get the sand out. Our 4 and 7 year old boys were happy as clams the whole trip. We had a lanai that was right next to the adult pool, and spent several afternoons lying in the lounge chairs on our porch reading our books with 2 Coronas. If you can afford it, splurge for one of these suites. We were lucky enough to be staying in one of the one-bedroom suites in the newer wing and found it to be just as if we had a beach-side condo. After a century of delivering remarkable experiences in Old Town Key West, Casa Marina is undergoing a grand renovation to thoughtfully elevate the historic resort and preserve its timeless character. Just returned from 7 nights at Casa Marina and we absolutely loved it.
